Invisible Emoji (Blank Emoji)

There's no official invisible emoji in Unicode. A blank emoji is a wide blank character, such as Ideographic Space (U+3000) or Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800), that leaves an emoji-sized gap. Copy one below and test it.

Invisible emoji copy and paste

Ideographic Space is as wide as a full character, so it lines up with emoji in most fonts.

Empty space emoji in captions

Use Braille blank on its own line to keep empty lines in captions.

Why there's no real invisible emoji

Every emoji is a picture with its own design, assigned by the Unicode Consortium. A blank emoji would defeat the point, so none exists. Wide blank characters fill the same space without being emoji.

Where blank emoji gaps help

Use them to space out emoji in a bio, to line up emoji rows in a caption, or to leave a gap between emoji in a nickname. Instagram captions also keep a line that holds only U+2800.

Not working?

  1. Gap looks too small

Paste two blanks, or switch to Ideographic Space.
